Miami Shores, Fla. - Despite recording more points than visiting Eckerd on Friday evening, the Barry University volleyball team dropped a 3-1 (25-23, 13-25, 25-20, 25-22) decision to the regionally-ranked Tritons on Senior Night.

HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
- Set 1 -Trailing for the majority of the opening set, Barry rallied to even the score late at 23-23 ony for back-to-back Eckerd points ending the frame.
- Set 2 - Barry scored the initial two points of the second set and never trailed during the stanza, creating a double-digit lead at 18-8.
- Set 3 - Eckerd used a pair of late 4-0 runs sandwiching back-to-back Barry points to take a 19-16 advantage, responding to a 3-0 rally by the Bucs that knotted the score with a 6-1 stretch to end the third set.
- Set 4 - Facing a late 21-16 deficit in the fourth set, Barry rallied to get within one at 22-21 before back-to-back points for the Tritons forced match point.
NOTEWORTHY:
- Diana Akopova paced the offense behind 16 kills, adding 10 digs for a double-double.
- Varvara Osychenko chipped in 12 kills with nine digs, three service aces and two assisted blocks.
- Biancaliz Cruz contributed 13 digs with six kills and two assisted blocks.
- Thalia Iglesias dished out 33 assists with four assiste blocks and one solo block.
- Sarah Willey ralled 13 digs.
- Barry held a 58-45 advantage in digs while both sides served five aces.
ON THE HORIZON:
The Buccaneers conclude the 2023 season on Saturday, Nov. 18 with a 3 p.m. matchup against Saint Leo.
