Miami Shores, Fla. - The Barry University volleyball team concluded its 2023 campaign on Saturday afternoon on a high note, sweeping visiting Saint Leo 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-16)

INSIDE THE MATCHUPS:

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

• Set 1 -Barry used an early 5-0 run in the first set to take a 7-2 lead, fending off a Saint Leo rally that got them within two at 13-11 with a 6-0 run to boast a 19-11 advantage.
• Set 2 - Holding a one-point lead at 7-6 in the second set, the Bucs scored seven-straight to pull ahead 14-6 and kept the lead above four for the rest of the stanza.
• Set 3 - Barry scored the opening three points of the third set and led the entire frame to complete the sweep.

NOTEWORTHY:

• Varvara Osychenko boasted 17 kills on a .533 hitting percentage with 12 digs and four service aces.
• Diana Akopova tied for the team-lead with 17 kills on a .417 clip.
• Thalia Iglesias dished out 35 assists with one service ace and two assisted blocks.
• Sarah Willey tallied 12 digs
• Barry held a 47-40 advantage in digs, 5-2 in service aces and 5-1 in blocks.
