Women's Basketball Clips Hawks Wings At Crossover

Bucs win second straight

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. --  The Barry women's basketball team rolled to another big win in the South Region Crossover Tournament, beating Shorter 87-59 on Cesar Odio Court on Saturday.

SUMMARY:

  • 1Q - Trailing 8-4 after the first five minutes, the Bucs rolled off 13 straight points to take a 17-8 lead and never trailed the rest of the way. Holly Davies had eight points, including a pair of three-pointers. | Barry 19, Shorter 13
  • 2Q - Barry had another big run in the second quarter that gave the Bucs a double-figure lead that they never relinquished. After Davies hit a pair of free throws at 4:28 to make the lead 29-19, Barry led by 10 or more the rest of the way.   • 4Q - The teams went back and forth in the final period, with the Bucs gradually pulling away even further. After Shorter's Tori Smiley fouled out, then got hit with a technical and Shorter head coach LaSheena Brooks picked up on of her own, Lauren Livingston hit all four free throws and Kalea Rainey drained a jumper on the ensuing possession making it 86-54, the biggest lead of the night. | Barry 87, Shorter 59

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Jennings led the Bucs with 22 points, on 7-of-11 shooting. Davies added 20, including 18 in the first half.
  •  Ariyah Brooks led Shorter with 15 points, while Courtney Lumpkins and Smiley each had 14.
  • Barry out-scored Shorter in all four periods.
  • The Bucs led the Hawks 33-15 in points off turnovers, 40-34 in the paint, 18-9 from three-point range and 11-10 in second-chance points.
