Men's Soccer Crushes Tritons 5-0

Buc improve to 8-1-0 in conference

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers continued their mastery of the Sunshine State Conference with a 5-0 win over the Eckerd Tritons on Wednesday night at Buccaneer Field in men's soccer action.

SUMMARY:

  • 15:24 - On the Bucs' first shot of the game by Nicolas Villalobos, Eckerd's Micah Nelson was called for a handball in the box. David Polanco calmly stepped up and converted the penalty.  | Barry 1, Eckerd 0
  • 20:23 - In the 21st minute, Scott Neil drove the ball down to the endline and sent in a cross from the left side. Peekay Stoffle flicked over to Polanco inside the six-yard box and he buried it into the back of the net.  | Barry 2, Eckerd 0

Polanco quickly ran on and flicked it past the Eckerd defense and into the box. NOTEWORTHY:

  • Barry out-shot the Tritons 16-3, including 10-2 on goal.
  • Rafael Furlani had two saves in 86 minutes to earn his eighth win. Juan Wulff did not face a shot in 4:06 minutes of action.
  • Slavkin had five saves, several of them very impressive, but conceded five goals to take the loss.
  • The hatrick for Polanco was the first of his career and the first for the Bucs since Juan Caffaro had one at Embry-Riddle in 2021.
  • For Berruezo, the two goals were his first two of the season.
  • The five goals match the season-high set against Tampa.

Barry closes SSC action at the Florida Southern Moccasins on Saturday, Oct. 28 at Berend Field in Lakeland, Fla.
