Diana Akopova became the 10th member of the Barry University volleyball program's 1,000 kill club on Friday afternoon, leading the Buccaneers in a 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-10) victory over Union at the South Region Crossover.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Set 1 - Barry overcame an early deficit behind a 7-0 run that pushed them ahead 9-4, responding to a 3-0 Union run that made it a two-point game at 11-9 with a five-straight points to extend their lead to 16-9 and kept the lead above five for the rest of the opening set.
- Set 2 - Barry used a 5-0 run early in the second set to take a 6-2 lead  and held onto the advantage for the rest of the stanza.
- Set 3 - The Buccaneers limited Union with a run of consecutive points for the entire third set while boasting a .536 hitting percentage with 17 kills to complete the three-set sweep.
NOTEWORTHY:
- Needing only 15 kills to eclipse 1,000 as a Buccaneer, Akopova ended the night with 19 on a .455 clip while adding nine digs, three service aces, a solo block and block assisted.
- Varvara Osychenko chipped in 14 kills, seven digs, two service aces and one assisted block.
- Fiona Baker dished out 38 assists on top of two service aces.
- Jeyhlen Thomas assisted on two blocks while adding two solo blocks.
- Ana Perez tallied 11 digs.
- Barry boasted a .420 hitting percentage.
- The Bucs served 10 aces versus four for Union.
- Barry held a 5-1 advantage in blocks.

The Buccaneers conclude play in the South Region Crossover on Saturday, Oct. 21 with a pair of contests against West Alabama (10 am) and Shorter (4:45 pm)
