Bucs win second straight

MELBOURNE, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers posted a big Sunshine State Conference road win in the Clemente Center on Wednesday, 66-52 over the Florida Tech Panthers.

SUMMARY:

  • 1Q - Barry jumped out to an 8-0 lead after the first three minutes on a three-point play by Trinity Bosecker and never trailed in the game. Reagan Jackson led a balanced Buccaneer attack with four points.  | Barry 16, Florida Tech 8
  • 2Q - The Panthers tied the game 21-21 with 3:08 left in the half on free throws by Remingtyn Smith. But Barry scored seven of the next 11 points to take a 28-25 lead into the lockerroom. | Barry 28, Florida Tech 25

  • 4Q - Barry took the lead to double-figures in the opening moments of the fourth quarter. A basket by K'Nari Holliday gave the Bucs a 48-38 lead. Florida Tech trimmed the lead to six points, 58-52 on a three-pointer by Aiste Vaitekunaite with 1:47 to play. NOTEWORTHY:

  • Jackson led all scorer with 13 points for the Bucs, but was the only player in double figures.
  • Vaitekunaite led Florida Tech with 12 and Tai Roberts added 10.
  • Barry's bench was again effective, out-scoring the Panthers 32-24.
  • Barry excelled in tranistion, leading 13-2 on fast-break points.
  • Barry out-shot the Panthers from the floor (40% to 31%), three-point range (36% to 22%) and the line (78% to 74%)
  • Barry also out-rebounded the Panthers 43-32.

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs host the Nova Southeastern Sharks on Saturday, Jan. 7.
