PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers battled the weather and Florida Memorial Lions to a 5-1 win on Wednesday night at USPL Field.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Barry out-shot the Lions 22-11, including 11-4 on goal.
  • Three keepers split the game for the Bucs, each playing about a third of the game. Mateo Torchio started the game and made one save to get the win.
  • Andres Jaramillo had two saves, but conceded the PK goal. Nils Buecheler worked the final 23 minutes scoreless, but did not face a shot. 
  • Joshua Aranzazu took the loss for the Lions. He made six saves, but allowed five goals.
  • The match was a physical one, with nine cards, four against Barry and five against the Lions, being dealt out.

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs open up Sunshine State Conference play on Saturday, Sept. 10 at Florida Tech.
