Women's Soccer Sail Past Lions

Bucs even their conference mark at 2-2

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers got two goals and a stalwart defensive effort to sail past the Saint Leo Lions 2-0 in Sunshine State Conference women's soccer action on Saturday night at Buccaneer Field.

SUMMARY:

  • 35:42 - After leading 10-2 in shots, the Bucs finally got on the board in the 46th minute. Ella Wallfur Skiljic chipped a pass over the Lion defense to Drew Dempsey to fired a shot to the far post over SLU keeper Maitane Bravo. | Barry 1, SLU 0
  • 59:31 - The Bucs tacked on an insurance goal in the 60th minute. McKenna Delong battled for the ball on the left wing and got to ball to Natalia Lima. Lima's shot deflected off Bravo to Ellen Cederin who centerd the ball to Madison Paster for the goal. | Barry 2, SLU 0   

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Emily Parrott was not tested much by the Lions, but stopped both shots they put on frame.
  • Bravo had 10 saves for the Lions or the difference could have been much bigger.
  • Barry out-shot Saint Leo 12-8, including 13-3 on goal, although the Lion produced five corners to just one for the Bucs.

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs visit Florida Memorial on Monday, Sept. 26, weather permitting.
