Men's Soccer Hauls In Big Win Over #2 Sailfish

Tyler Dobinson scored the game winner in the 87th minute

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers rallied from a goal down to knock off #2-ranked Palm Beach Atlantic at the Rinker Athletic Campus in Sunshine State Conference men's soccer action on Wednesday night.

SUMMARY:

  • 8:12 - The Bucs broke the ice early. David Polanco had the ball in the box and passed out to Daniel Schaal who blasted in the goal past PBA keeper Guillermo Falo from the left wing. | Barry 1, PBA 0
  • 17:45 - Yannick Toth scored the first of two goals to even the match just nine minutes later. | Barry 1, PBA 1
  • 22:18 - Polanco and Schaal teamed up to give the Bucs back the lead in the 23rd minute. Schaal crossed the ball in from the left and Polanco hit a diving header out of the air for the tally. | Barry 2, PBA 1 
  • 32:14 - In the 33rd minute, Harrison Adron took a pass from Niall Owens to knot the game at 2-2. | Barry 2, PBA 2
  • 46:50 - Right after halftime, the 'Fish struck again to take the lead for the first time on Toth's second goal, this time wih an assist from Andres Flores. | PBA 3, Barry 2
  • 68:28 - But the Bucs battled back to tie in the 69th minute. Cam McDonald pushed the ball up from the back to Schaal who whipped another cross into the box, this time finding Miguel Rodriguez for the goal. | Barry 3, PBA 3
  • 86:22 - With less than four minutes remaining, the Bucs took advantage of a set piece to put in the winner. After winning a corner, Rodriguez's service found the head of Tyler Dobinson who slipped it past Falo for the edge. | Barry 4, PBA 3

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Barry out-shot the Sailfish 24-11, including 9-4 on goal.
  • Juan Claude Consol had one save for the Bucs to pick up the win.
  • Falo made five saves for the 'Fish, but took the loss.
  • The win snapped a five-game losing streak in the series for Barry, although they still lead 20-7-1 overall.

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs host the Embry-Riddle Eagles on Saturday, Sept. 17 in the home conference opener after two games in the road.
