Women's Soccer Blitzes #11 Saints

Bucs tag Flagler for 5 goals

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers blitzed the 11th-ranked Flagler Saints 5-1 in the 2022 season home opener at Buccaneer Field on Wednesday night.

SUMMARY:

  • 6:41 - Barry got a goal early. The Saints failed to clear the ball out of the back and Ellen Cederin took advantage by swiping the ball and scoring on the empty goal. | Barry 1, Flagler 0
  • 21:35 - Madison Paster scored two minutes after checking into the game. Emma Lillbäck pushed the ball up the middle on a counter attack and found Paster open in the final third. Paster's intital shot was deflected by Saints' keeper Madsion North, but Paster was able to poke in the rebound.  | Barry 2, Flagler 0
  • 45:22 - Just after halftime, McKenna Delong had the ball just inside the Saints's penalty box when she was taken down by defender Sara Carr. Delong stepped up and cooly converted the ensuing penalty. | Barry 3, Flagler 0
  • 60:23 - Paster got a second goal as the Saints were once again unable to effectively clear the ball. Paster knocked it in from 12 yards out. | Barry 4, Flagler 0   
  • 72:51 - The Saints took advantage of some Buccaneer confusion to score their only goal. The Saints, with a substitute waiting at the table, quick played the ball and caught the Bucs napping. Chloe Byrne sent in a long cross from the left and Ellise Rennie gathered it unmarked at the top of the 18-yard box and knocked it in to the far post. | Barry 4, Flagler 1
  • 81:09 - Drew Dempsey got the goal back for the Bucs on another give away in the back for the Saints. | Barry 5, Flagler 1

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Emily Parrott picked up her second straight win in goal for the Bucs. She gave up the one goal, and made five saves.
  • North took the loss for the Saints. She made seven saves, but gave up four goals before being replaced by Jasmine Rehberger, who conceded the final goal.
  • The five goals are the most for the Bucs this season.
