Delong with the hat-trick

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers continued their offensive explosion with a 5-0 win over the Albany State Golden Rams on Saturday night at Buccaneer Field in women's soccer action.

INSIDE THE MATCHUP
Final: Barry 5, Albany State 0
Records: Barry (3-1-0), ASU (0-1-0)
All-Time Series: Barry leads 1-0-0

SUMMARY:

  • 20:06 - Barry finally broke through on their fifth shot. Drew Dempsey passed the ball to Ellen Cederin just outside the box and the Swede drilled a shot into the top left corner of the goal over the head of 5-3 keeper Taniya Averett.  | Barry 1, ASU 0
  • 47:48 - McKenna Delong scored the first of three straight goal just after the intermission. Dempsey again sent the ball out to the right side this time and Delong ripped a shot from 19 yards out over Averett's head to the far post.  | Barry 2, ASU 0
  • 51:37 - Madison Paster assisted on the second goal, working the ball to the end line, crossing it in from the left. Delong flicked the ball over to the fall post for the goal. | Barry 3, ASU 0
  • 58:18 - Past and Delong hooked up one more time in the 59th minute. Past sent the ball out to the right wing and Delong's low, skipping shot went between Averett's legs. | Barry 4, ASU 0
  • 88:35 - The Buccaneer reserves capped the scoring in the 89th minute. Maddie Willenborg pushed the ball hard up the middle and found Paige Leary off on the left side. Leary touched about one defender and then beat Averett to the near post.  Barry 5, ASU 0

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Emily Parrott picked up her third straight win and second shutout in three games in goal for the Bucs. She faced only one shot, but made the save.
  • Averett made 15 saves with some very athletic saves, and was helped out by three team saves, or the Bucs' total could have been much higher.
  • The Bucs scored five goals for the second straight game.
  • Delong's hat-trick is the first for the Bucs since Amanda Traynor tallied three goals against Rollins on Oct. 29, 2016.
  • Cederin's goal was the third straight game that she scored the first goal.

ON THE HORIZON:

Barry takes on Florida National on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 6:00 pm in the friendly confines.
