TEMPE, Ariz. - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced the recipients of the 2022 Division II Women's Regional Awards. Every year the ITA recognizes coaches and players for their excellence on the court and in their communities throughout the season. The Division II Playing Awards include: Wilson ITA Coach of the Year, ITA Assistant Coach of the Year, Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship, ITA Rookie of the Year, ITA Most Improved Senior, ITA Senior Player of the Year, and ITA Community Service Award.
Jil Engelmann, from women's tennis has been named the Senior Player of the Year in Division II, South Region. Engelmann finished 2021-22 with a record of 15-1 in singles and 18-2 in doubles. Also completed her year ranking 11th in singles by the NCAA Division II by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). She was named to the First-Team All-SSC singles three times since 2019 and Second-Team doubles this year. She helped led the Bucs to the Sunshine State Conference regular season and tournament championship, the ITA Indoor title and the NCAA South Region and National championships this year.
The national award winners will be announced next Tuesday, June 14th.

Barry has been one of the the top teams in NCAA Division II over the last 30+ years. The Bucs have advanced to the NCAA Tournament 30 times, including making the finals nine times. They have won the national championship seven times including an NCAA record five-in-a-row and counting (2011, 2014, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022). They have had 95 All-SSC players including SSC Players of the Year Barbi Pocza (2011, 2010), Greta Trotman (2005), Gizella Turbok (2002) and Jennifer Araldi (1998). The Buccaneers also had 64 ITA All-Americans players including Madeline Bosnjak (2021, 2022), Deniz Kahazan (2021, 2022), and Engelmann (2020, 2021, 2022), Kim Moosbacher (2022) and Daniela Farfan (2022).
