MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- After winning their fifth-straight NCAA National Championship, the Barry Buccaneers once again end the season in the No. 1 spot of the Division II Women's ITA Collegiate Tennis National Team Rankings sponsored by Tennis-Point.
Finishing the season once again unbeaten, the Bucs have now won their past 62 matches, including only dropping 11 points as a team over their 28 matches this season.
This 2022 NCAA National Championship marks the seventh all-time for the Barry team, which ties them for the second-most ever by a program at the Division II level.
In addition to a Top 75 National Team Rankings, this week also features a Top 75 National Singles Ranking as well as a Top 50 National Doubles Ranking.
In singles, Barry's Deniz Khazan ends the season in the top spot for teh second straight year after going 19-0 from the No. 1 position for Barry including ten wins over ranked nationally-ranked opponents over the season.
In doubles, Central Oklahoma's Christine and Mae Canete end the season with the No. 1 ranking. The sister duo went 16-2 from the No. 1 doubles position this season.
The Bucs are led by Deniz Khazan who won the ITA Cup Women's Singles Title this past fall and has been ranked atop the ITA Collegiate Tennis Division II Women's National Rankings since December. Khazan leads the conference and region in singles and after earning the 2021 Sunshine State Conference Female Athlete of the Year. She broke the career-winning percentage record for the Bucs by going 30-0 in dual matches over her two years. She also ranks second in doubles with partner Madeline Bosnjak. Bosnjak, who clinched the national championship match in 2022 at number four singles, ranks 73rd. Jil Engelmann ranks 11th in singles and 46th in doubles with Helene Scholsen. Engelmann is a returning All-American in singles, while Bosnjak teamed with Khazan for a 2020 doubles award. Kim Moosbacher ranks 36th in singles and eighth in doubles with partner Daniela Farfan. Xiyao Wang ranks 34th in singles, while Mariia Skyba is 70th.
