Baseball Loses Series Opener to #10 Rollins

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers lost 7-2 to #10 Rollins College Friday night in game one of their Sunshine State Conference baseball series at Feinbloom Field.

Game 1

  • T2: Cameron Meehan took advantage of the stiff wind blowing out toright to launch a three-run homer for the Tars. | Tars 3, Bucs 0
  • B3: Barry trimmed two runs off the lead in the third off Tars starter Jaylen Whitehead (7-1). Danny Cunningham homered down the right field line and Joe Stella bounced an RBI single up the middle to score Branden Abreu. | Tars 3, Bucs 2
  • T4: The Tars got both runs back in the fourth on a two-run shot by Ryan Coleman. | Tars 5, Bucs 2
  • T7: Parker Smith bounced a double over the wall in right center, scoring Chase Achuff, who had led off with a double. | Tars 6, Bucs 2
  • T8: Adams Torres knocked in Joey Rubin with a single to left. | Tars 7, Bucs 2

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Whitehead continued his dominant season with seven innings of work. He allowed two runs on four hits and two walks and struck out five to improve to 7-1 on the season.
  • Arrison Perez (2-4) took the loss for the Bucs. In five innings, he allowed five runs (four earned) on six hits and three walks. 
  • Five different Bucs each had one hit, including Cunningham's home run.
  • Meehan led the Tars going 3-for-5 with three RBI.

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs continue the three-game series with the Tars tomorrow with a doubleheader starting at 1:00 pm.
