Baseball Takes Rubber Game From Sailfish To Win Series

Bucs take season series 4-1

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barrry Buccaneers bounced back to take the rubber game of their Sunshine State Conference baseball series from the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish 9-3 on Saturday at Feinbloom Field. PBA won the first game on Saturday 10-6.

SUMMARY:
Game 1

  • B2: The Bucs scratched out two runs in the second. Danny Garcia, who beat out an infield hit, socred on a passed ball by PBA catcher Jeff Manto. Steven Torres later stole home for the second game in a row. | Bary 2, PBA 0 
  • B3: Ihosvany Castaneda manufactured a run in the third. He walked, stole second and scored ahead of an RBI single by Sebastian Garrido. | Barry 3, PBA 0
  • T5: The Sailfish trimmed two runs off the lead in the fifth. Mikey Casaleggio, who walked, scored on a double by Matty Warren. Jiovel Lantigua singled to left to score Warren. | Barry 3, PBA 2
  • T6: PBA took the lead in the sixth. Casaleggio scored on a single by Davis Blair. Warren scored the go-ahead run on a error. | PBA 4, Barry 3
  • B7: The Bucs tied it up in the seventh. Baldo bounced a single up the middle to lead off the innings and scored on a base hit by Garrido. | Barry 4, PBA 4
  • T8: The wheels came pff for the Bucs in the eighth as the Sailfish batted around and scored five. Manto had a two-run single and Jake Roper drove in three with a double down the left field line. | PBa 9, Barry 4
  • B8: Danny Cunnigham walked and Yovan Ayes singled off the pitcher glove. Both runner stole a base and Cunningham scored on a ground out by Brandon Sanchez. | PBA 9, Barry 5
  • T9: Casaleggio scored on a single by Warren, after leading off with a double. | PBA 10, Barry 5
  • B9: Castaneda walked and stole second. He later scored when Cunningham beat out an infield hit. | PBA 10, Barry 6

Game 2

  • B1: Castaneda got the ball rolling in the rubber game. He shot a single through the right side, stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Joe Stella, all with two outs. | Barry 1, PBA 0
  • B4: The put up five runs in the fourth. Stella led off with a single and Torres beat out a bunt for a hit. Jose Tabares loaded the bases with a single to short left field. Ayes walked to drive in Stella, then all three runners moved up on a wild pitch. PBA starter Chris Seymour hit Danny Cunningham in the head to load the bases again and was replaced by Nick Adams. Branden Abreu dumped a double down the right field line, clearing the bases. | Barry 6, PBA 0
  • T5: Manto, who doubled to lead off the inning, scored from third when, after a steal by Nate Housen, the Bucs muffed the throw from the catcher. | Barry 6, PBA 1
  • T6: Manto knocked in a pair of runs, after a single by Lantigua and a double by Sean Houck. | Barry 6, PBA 3
  • B7: Abreu and Matthew Menendez singled to lead off the seventh and both advanced on a wild pitch by reliever Troy Klemm. Abreu scored on a fly out by Stella. Klemm and catcher Housen then proceeded to gift the Bucs two more runs. Klemm wild pitched Menendez to third. Then, on ball four to Torres, Housen missed the pitch, allowing Menendez to score. Torres alertly took second and advanced to third when Klemm's throw was wild. He later scored on a base hit by Tabares. | Barry 9, PBA 3

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Mike Reagan (3-3) evened his record with six innings of work. He allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits and two walks and struck out five.
  • JJ Galvis worked the final three scoreless innings, scattering a hit and two walks, to earn his first save. 
  •  Seymour (1-2) allowed six runs on six hits, a walk and a hit batter in 3.1 innings to take the loss.
  • In the first game, Dan Beebe (3-1) got the win in relief. He worked 2.2 innings, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk.
  • Danny Vazquez (1-1) took the loss for the Bucs, allowing five runs (four earned) on three hits and two walks. 

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs are off until the weekend, when they host the Rollins Tars in a three-game set at Feinbloom Field.
