MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneer softball team started off their weekend series against the Saint Leo Lions on top, winning the first game 9-2 on Saturday, Mar. 5.

NOTEWORTHY:
- Maci Barnhart moves to 9-2 on the season after striking out seven batters and only giving up one earned run.
- Wheless went 2-for-3 with a homer and four RBI.
- Kayla Betts (5-3) threw 156 pitches in a complete game, allowing nine runs (six earned) on six hits, five walks and four hit batters. She struck out nine.
