Baseball Loses At #20 Nova Southeastern

DAVIE, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers lost 11-8 in a non-conference baseball game at #20 Nova Southeastern on Tuesday night.

SUMMARY:

  • B1: Duncan Paastore hit a solo homer with two outs off Barry starter Christian Orduna (2-2). | Sharks 1, Bucs 0
  • B3: After Orduna walked the bases loaded, Pastore doubled to left to drive in all three runners. | Sharks 4, Bucs 0
  • B4: After an Alejandro Macario RBI single, Anthony Boix came in to relieve Orduna and allowed three straight singles, before getting a double play to end the frame.  | Sharks 8, Bucs 0
  • T5: Barry finally broke through in the fifth. Jose Tabares, David Vazquez and Brandon Sanchez started the inning with singles to load the bases. Tabares scored on a ground out and Vazquez came in on a wild pitch. Matthew Menendez delivered the final run with a single through the right side. | Sharks 8, Bucs 3
  • B5: The Sharks got all three runs back in the bottom of the inning on a sacrifice fly and a two-run error. | Sharks 11, Bucs 3
  • T6: Vazquez doubled down the left field line to score Steven Torres, who had walked. Sanchez followed with an RBI single to plate Tabares. After a walk to Menendez to load the bases, NSU reliever Lucas Reid hit Ihosvany Castaneda to force in Vazquez.  | Lions 11, Bucs 6
  • T7: After pinch hitter Sebastian Garrido singled and Torres walked again, Vazquez laced a double into right center to bring both of them around. | Lions 11, Bucs 8 

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Orduna took the loss for Barry. In 3.1 innings, he allowed seven runs on six hits and four walks.
  • Cooper Omans (4-1) worked five innings to get the win. He allowed three runs on six hits and a walk.
  • Vazquez led the Bucs at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two doubles, tow runs and three RBI.
  • Tabarez also had three hits, and Sanchez added two as the bottom three slots in the order combined to go 8-for-14 with four runs, four RBI and two doubles.
  • Pastore led the Sharks, going 3-for-5 with a double, homer and five RBI.

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs host the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish in a Sunshine State Conference series starting Friday.
