Baseball Gets Swept By Barton

Bucs fall to 12-18

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry was swept 7-6 and 12-6 by the Barton Bulldogs on Saturday at Feinbloom Field.

  • B1: The Bucs jumped out on top in game two. Yovan Ayes doubled to lead off the game and scored on a double by Castaneda. Stella followed with a two-run homer. | Barry 3, Barton 0
  • T2: The lead didn't last long, however, as Barton sent 10 men to the plate and scored six runs in the second. McIsaac capped the barrage with a bases-clearing double to right. | Barton 6, Barry 3
  • B2: The Bucs trimmed two runs off the lead in the second. Matthew Menendez singled and David Vazquez walked. Both moved up on a wild pitch and scored on a gound out and a sacrifice fly. | Barton 6, Barry 5
  • T5: The Bulldoges scored six more in the fifth. Colby Warren had a two-run homer and Machado added a two-run single. Carrelle Gonzalez and Scaranda had back-to-back RBI doubles. | Barton 12, Barry 5
  • B8: Menendez hit his first career homer. Barton 12, Barry 6

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Jared Davis (4-2) worked seven innings in game one for the win. He allowed four runs on six hits and a walk and struck out four. Halvorson picked up his second save.
  • Mike Reagan (2-3) took the loss in the first game. He gave up four runs (three earned) on four hits and four walks in four innings.
  • In the nightcap, Brett Widerman (2-1) worked seven innings in relief of Halvorson, who started, but gave up five runs. Widerman allowed just the one run, on the homer by Menendez, but otherwise scattered four other hits and two walks, while striking out five.
  • Anthony Bennetti (0-6) took the loss again for the Bucs, allowing four runs on three hits and a walk in 1.2 innings. He also hit two batters.
  • Castaneda and Stella each went 4-for-9 with a homer. Castaneda added a double, two stolen bases and four runs scored to his three RBI. Stella scored twice and dove in four.

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs take on seventh-ranked Nova Southeastern on the road on Tuesday, Mar. 29.
