Baseball Drops Two Games To Panthers

The Bucs lost 1-3 and 2-9

MELBOURNE, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers suffered defeat in both legs of their doubleheader today against Florida Tech at Seminick-Hall Field. The Bucs lost the first game 3-1 and the second game 9-2

SUMMARY(GAME ONE):

  • B3 - Arrison Perez entered the third inning with three Ks and started things off right by getting the first batter to groundout. Four hits and an error later, Florida Tech had a 3-0 lead. | Panthers 3, Bucs 0
  • T6 - Kevin Noriega stepped up to the plate with two outs on the board and proceeded to single into center field. Matthew Menendez knocked a double into right field on the next at-bat and Noriega came home to score the Bucs only run of the game. | Panthers 3, Bucs 1

SUMMARY(GAME TWO):

  • B2 - The second inning was a nightmare for the Bucs as Florida Tech was able to score four runs despite not recording a single hit and only drawing one walk as the Bucs piled up four errors in the inning. | Panthers 4, Bucs 0
  • B4 - After a pair of walks to start the inning and a wild pitch that advanced both runners into scoring positions, the Bucs would go on to give up an infield single followed by a ground out which scored the first run of the inning. The next two runners were both brought in by wild pitches. | Panthers 7, Bucs 0
  • T8 - Brandon Abreu knocked a leadoff single followed by Brandon Sanchez who also singled. After two fly outs and a walk drawn by Ihosvany Castaneda, Abreau and Sanchez would both come home after Menendez reached first on an error by the Panthers' third baseman. | Panthers 7, Bucs 2
  • B8 - The Panthers scored another two runs on a pair of hits to put the nail in the Bucs' coffin. | Panthers 9, Bucs 2 

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Perez (0-2) only gave up one earned run in seven innings of work, but was hung with the loss for the second straight start. He gave up five hits and struck out five but did not walk a batter.
  •  Sebastian Garrido (0-1) gave up four unearned runs in two innings to take the loss in game two. He allowed two hits and one walk, while striking out two. 
  • Menendez went 2-4 with a double in game one for the Bucs.

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs will now host Palm Beach Atlantic on Tuesday, Feb. 22 at 6:00pm.
