MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers opened the 2022 Barry Thanksgiving Classic with a 79-70 win over the Limestone Saints in women's basketball action on Friday on Cesar Odio Court.

- 1Q - The Bucs jumped out to a big lead early in the first period, leading 7-2 after a three-pointer from Chiara Fusari at 8:21. The Bucs still led by five, 16-11, after an Ashleigh Pink jumper with 1:59 remaining. But the Saints closed the period on a 6-0 run, with Quin Byrd hitting a runner with :42 seconds left to give Limestone their first lead of the game. - 2Q - The Saints scored four of the first six points in the quarter to go up 21-18 on a basket by Amara Newsome. But they went cold from the floor, missing 14 straight shots before Newsome scored again at the buzzer. In between, the Bucs built a sizable lead, going up 12 points, 33-21, on a triple from Dasiah Thornton with 1:12 to play. - 3Q - Barry led by 11, 43-32, after another three-pointer from Fusari at 5:58. But the Bucs had a cold spell of their own as the Saints came back to take the lead, 48-47 on a three-pointer from Megan Watson at the buzzer. - 4Q - Camilla Flefil keyed the fourth-quarter rally for the Bucs, hitting 5-of-6 for 15 points from three-point range in the frame. After Flefil tied the game 53-53 on her second triple of the period, Ashleigh Pink went to the line and drained three free throws to give the Bucs back the lead 56-53 with 7:40 to play and they never relinquished it. Flefil put Barry up by nine, 70-61, at the 3:33 mark and the teams swapped points the rest of the way. NOTEWORTHY:
- Fusari led the BUcs with 23 points, including 13 in the first half.
- Flefil added 15, all in the fourth quarter, and Pink had 14.
- Byrd led the Saints with 21 points, while Kalisha Hill added 11.
- The Barry bench make most the difference in the game, out-scoring the Saints 33-16.

Barry takes on the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers tomorrow. KWC lost 73-71 in overtime to Lynn in the first round.
