Women's Basketball Loses In Overtime

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers lost 81-76 to the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers in women's basketball action on Saturday on Cesar Odio Court.

SUMMARY:

  • 1Q -  Barry led 7-3 after a jumper by Ashia Pool with 7:28, but the Panthers out-scored the Bucs 13-8 over the rest of the period to take a lead at the break. | Panthers 16, Bucs 15
  • 2Q -  With the game tied 19-19 after a layup by Taylor Fowler at 8:51, the Bucs went on a 16-5 run over the next 5:14 to take a double-figure lead, 35-24 on a layup by Dasiah Thornton at 3:37. The Bucs stretched it to 14, before the Panthers scored the last five points of the period.  | Bucs 41, Panthers 32
  • 3Q -  Barry led by 14 again, after a three-pointer by Camilla Flefil at 4:21 of the period put the Bucs up 56-42. But KWC cut the lead in half by the end of the quarter. | Bucs 60, Panthers 53
  • 4Q - Barry pushed the lead out to eight, 66-58, on a jumper by Chiara Fusari with 7:34 left and the Bucs maintained the lead until :19 second left when Cali Nolot hit 1-of-2 from the line to tie the game. NOTEWORTHY:

  • All five starters scored in double figures for the Bucs, led by 15 from Fusari.
  • Trinity Bosecker had 14, Pool 13, Fowler had 12 and Pink had 11 points.
  • Pink added a team-high 10 rebounds for a double-double.
  • Nolot led the Panthers with 18. 
  • Barry got out-scored off of turnovers 32-15 and 24-11 off the bench.

ON THE HORIZON:

Barry hosts the Florida National Conquistadors on Tuesday at 5:30 pm, in a double header with the men's team.
