Women's Volleyball Swept At Lynn

Three close sets go to the Fighting Knights

BOCA RATON, Fla. -- The #16 Barry University Buccaneers women's volleyball team fell in straight sets (25-23) (25-22) (25-22) at Lynn University on Tuesday evening in Sunshine State Conference (SSC) action. The Bucs drop to 20-3 overall, and 11-2 in SSC play.

INSIDE THE MATCHUPS:

Records: Barry (20-3, 11-2 SSC), Lynn (17-5, 9-4 SSC)
All-Time Series: Barry leads 31-17 after dropping both meetings in the season series and six-straight overall. Barry last defeated Lynn in 2018 when the Buccaneers took both matches in the season series.

SUMMARY:

  • 1st set | Mónica López served an ace to knot the set at six-all, but the Bucs did not take the lead until late on two occasions (18-17 and 19-18). Tied at 23-23, Nadia Lindner delivered the next two kills for the Fighting Knights to capture the set. | Barry 23, Lynn 25
  • 2nd set | Errors from the Fighting Knights gave the Buccaneers and early 4-1 lead. A pair of kills from Christy Paul led to another 4-0 run for Barry and pushed the lead to six, 14-8. A kill by Djuly Schmorantz put the Bucs on top, 20-13, before the hosts finished with a 12-2 run including the last five points in a row. | Barry 22, Lynn 25
  • 3rd set | After dropping the first two points, a 4-0 run put Barry in an early lead. The Bucs had to fight back to tie the score at 20-20, but Lynn won three straight points before the teams alternated the final four points. Monica Mazzoleni had a key kill for Lynn. | Barry 22, Lynn 25

ON THE HORIZON:
The Bucs have a pair of SSC road matches this weekend, first on Friday at Saint Leo (7 p.m.) and next on Saturday at Florida Tech (4 p.m.).
