PENSACOLA, Fla. -- The top-seeded Barry Buccaneers powered their way to a 4-1 win over the third-seeded hosts, the West Florida Argonauts, in the championship match of the 2021 NCAA Division II South Region men's tennis tournament at the Skeeter Carson Tennis Center on Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bucs came out hot in doubles. Forcano and Gutierrez posted their second straight post-season win by knocking off Bandeira and Nery at number one 6-2.
- Giuliato and Buettner continued their dominant play with a 6-3 win over Bojadjiev and Miralles Miro at number two.
- In singles, Ortega Palacios trailed Lecoutre 3-2 in the first set, but won 10 straight games to post a 6-3, 6-0 victory at number two singles.
- The Argonauts picked up their only point at number one singles in an upset as 29th-ranked Bojadjiev topped #1-ranked Giuliato 6-3, 6-4. It is Giuliato's only career loss as a Buccaneer and the first since his freshman campaign at Hawai'i-Hilo.
- Ibañez Gallego quickly got the point back with a 6-1, 6-2 win at number three over Cabrera that put the bucks one point away.
- Forcano provided the clincher at number six, 7-5, 6-4 over Miralles Miro.
- The remaining matches went unfinished.
NOTES
- The Bucs advance to the national finals for the 22nd time since 1995.
- The finals will be contested at the Surprise Tennis Center in Surprise, Ariz. The Bucs previously won titles on those courts in 2013 and 2015.
