MELBOURNE, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers lost 5-2 to Florida Tech on Thursday in the opening game of a Sunshine State Conference baseball series at Seminick/Hall Field.

NOTEWORTHY:
- Mike Reagan (0-1) took the loss for Barry in his first start of the season. He allowed three runs on three hits and three walks in 4.2 innings.
- Freshman Daniel Vassallo (1-1) evened his record with six strong innings. He allowed two runs on seven hits and a walk and struck out nine.
- Alex Carpenter allowed one hit, but faced the minimum, in the ninth to earn his third save.
- Vazquez went 4-for-4 at the lace to lead the Bucs. Socorro added two hits and an RBI.
- The Bucs went 9-for-34 at the plate, with the bottom four hitters combining for 8-for-17.
