Baseball Loses At Florida Tech

Bucs drop to 4-4, 2-2 SSC

MELBOURNE, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers lost 5-2 to Florida Tech on Thursday in the opening game of a Sunshine State Conference baseball series at Seminick/Hall Field.

  • T4 - Joel Alvarez walked with one out and went to third on a double by David Vazquez. Bran Socorro followed with a an RBI single. | Barry 1, FT 0
  • B5 - The Panthers hung four runs on the board. Raul Quntero, Dylan Owens and Paul Castillo each had RBI singles. | FT 4, Barry 1
  • T6 - The Bucs cut into the lead with a two-out rally in the sixth. Vazquez singled to left and scored ahead of a Blake Brito single. | FT 4, Barry 2
  • B8 - Castillo hit a lead-off homer for the Panthers. | FT 5, Barry 2

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Mike Reagan (0-1) took the loss for Barry in his first start of the season. He allowed three runs on three hits and three walks in 4.2 innings.
  • Freshman Daniel Vassallo (1-1) evened his record with six strong innings. He allowed two runs on seven hits and a walk and struck out nine.
  • Alex Carpenter allowed one hit, but faced the minimum, in the ninth to earn his third save.
  • Vazquez went 4-for-4 at the lace to lead the Bucs. Socorro added two hits and an RBI.
  • The Bucs went 9-for-34 at the plate, with the bottom four hitters combining for 8-for-17.

ON THE HORIZON:

Barry hosts the Panthers in the conference doubleheader on Saturday, Mar. 27. The first game is scheduled for 2:00 pm at Feinbloom Field.
