MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Barry Buccaneers suffered defeat in three sets to the Tampa Spartans in Sunshine State Conference volleyball action on Saturday night. The Spartans won the match 27-25, 25-22, 25-22.

SUMMARY:
- 1st set | The Bucs opened up the match heavily contested, trading points with Tampa, but was never being able to gain the upper hand. Tied 24-24, Tampa took the set after back-to-back kills from Melissa Elias and Sorrel Houghton. | Tampa 27, Barry 25
- 2nd set | The Bucs managed to get out on top early going up 7-1, but the Spartins battled their way back to eventually take the set 25-22. | Tampa 25, Barry 22
- 3rd set | Tampa continued where they left off, not letting up on the Bucs, combining for 16 kills to edge out Barry. | Tampa 25, Barry 22
NOTEWORTHY:
- Djuly Schmorantz led the contest in kills with 15. Schmorantz also picked up 10 digs for a double-double and one service ace.
- Jennifer Collazo added 11 kils for Barry.
- The Bucs had three players in double digit digs, led by Mónica López with 19, followed by Nicola Osiewala with 13, Schmorantz with 10.
- Taylor Fosler led the Spartans with 14 kills.

The Bucs are on the road, traveling to Daytona Beach, Fla., to take on the Embry- Riddle Eagles on Tuesday, Nov. 2.
