Women's Soccer Draws With Tars On Senior Night

Bucs move to 2-3-3 in conference

MIAMI SHORES, FL -- The Barry Buccaneers drew 1-1 with the Rollins Tars in Sunshine State Conference women's soccer action at Buccaneer Field on Wednesday night. Barry celebrated Senior Night before the game.

SUMMARY:

  • 23:13 - The Bucs clawed out an early goal in the 24th minute. Lauren Hall slipped a pass all the way through the Tars defense to the left wing where Drew Dempsey got on the end of it and beat keeper Noel Miller one-on-one. | Barry 1, Rollins 0
  • 65:52 - The Tars got their only goal off a penalty kick in the 66th minute. Demspey was whistled for a foul in the penalty box on a 50/50 challenge with Vilja Aaltonen. Bailey Tran stepped up to convert the kick. | Barry 1, Rollins 1
  • 70:39 - Aaltonen was sent off in the 71st minute. Bella Tusa broke away and was heading in for a one-on-one chance with Miller when Aaltonen pulled her down from behind. The Tars played down a player for the last 39:21, including the overtimes.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Although the game proceeded in spurts, with one team or the other seeming to have the upper hand, Barry eventually led 22-19 in shots. Barry put two of those off the cross bar: one by Tash Hudson in the fourth minute and one by Ari Cerezuela in the second overtime.
  • Both Maddie Hart-Pomerantz and Rose Hemans played on Senior Day. Hart-Pomerantz had six saves in just over 50 minutes work. Hemans had five in nearly 60.
  • Miller made five saves for the Tars.

ON THE HORIZON:

Barry travels across the state to face the Eckerd Tritons for the second time this season on Saturday, Oct. 30. The Tritons won the first meeting in Fort Myers, but this one is the big one, as it is the SSC match.
