Softball Drops SSC Series to PBA on the Road

Barry had their five game winning streak snapped after the loss in game two of the series

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- . The Barry Buccaneers lost both games to Palm Beach Atlantic on Saturday in double-header action on the road. After winning game one of the series, Barry dropped game two 9-3 and game three 4-0 at the Rinker Athletic Campus.

SUMMARY:
Game One

  • T1 - The Bucs struck first after Taylor Checkley walked and stole second base. With two outs, Payton Germer lined a ball to left field and scored Checkley to give Barry a one run lead | Barry 1, PBA 0
  • B1 - PBA answered back with two runs on two hits, but left two on base | PBA 2, Barry 1
  • T5 - Down 8-1, the Bucs got their leadoff runner aboard with Peyton Rawls drawing a walk. Ayana Andrade-Zygmunt put down a sacrifice bunt and advanced on a throwing error by the PBA third basemen, Rawls advanced to third. Zygmunt stole second, giving Kayla Posten runners on second and third with two outs. The freshman shortstop delivered with a two-run double | PBA 8, Barry 3
Game Two
  • T3 - The Bucs struggled offensively against PBA's starting pitcher, not recording a base hit until Courtney Chisholm did in the third inning with two outs | PBA 0, Barry 0
  • B4 - Sarah Johnson had only given up one run on four hits heading to the fourth inning, but walked three Sailfish. She was replaced by Jordanna Hartley after giving up three runs and two hits | PBA 4, Barry 0
NOTEWORTHY:
  • The Buccaneers had their five game winning streak snapped with their loss in game two of the series
  • Barry struck out 10 times as a team in game two for just the third time in 30 games this season
  • Posten hit safely in both games today with two RBI 

ON THE HORIZON:
