Colvin Leads Softball in Two Wins over Queens College

The Buccaneers have now won four straight games

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Buccaneers took two more games from Queens College on Wednesday night at Buccaneer Field to extend their win-streak to four games. Barry took game one 5-4 and beat the Knights 10-2 in five innings via the run rule in game two.

SUMMARY:

Game One

  • B1 - Barry picked up three runs in the first inning on RBI hits by Berlin Colvin and Michelle Roldan | Barry 3, QC 0
  • B2 - Colvin's second double of the game drove in Savannah Starling, extending the Buccaneer lead to four | Barry 4, QC 0
  • T7 - Down 4-1, coach Cotter summoned Sarah Johnson to close the door on the Knights in relief for Jordanna Hartley who threw six innings and allowed just one run. Queens scored three runs on three hits off two Buccaneer errors to tie the game | Barry 4, QC 4
  • B7 - Kayla Posten led the inning with a double to center field. Taylor Checkley's bunt single allowed Posten to advance to third, then Colvin walked to load the bases with no outs. Payton Germer hit a fly ball to left field that allowed Posten to tag and score the winning run on the sacrifice fly | Barry 5, QC 4
Game Two
  • T1 - Sarah Johnson started the game for the Bucs, but was replaced by Cassandra Lee in the second after giving up two runs on four hits | QC 2, Barry 0
  • B1 - Barry answered right back to take the lead with RBI hits from Roldan and Fallon Dragich | Barry 3, QC 2
  • B5 - Colvin led-off the inning with a triple to center field and scored during the next at-bat when Germer singled on a bunt. With Germer on third, Roldan's RBI single added another run to the Buccaneer lead. After Starling singled to load the bases, Posten drove two more in. Colvin came to bat for the second time in the inning and ended the game with a three run double | Barry 10, QC 2
NOTEWORTHY:
  • Colvin went 5-for-7 on the day with five extra base hits and five RBI 
  • Starling came into today hitting .213 this season, but after a 5-for-6 day, she is now up to .283
  • Roldan went 4-for-6 with five RBI against the Knights

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs resume their Sunshine State Conference schedule this weekend in West Palm Beach against Palm Beach Atlantic (13-10, 5-4 SSC) Game one of a three game series starts on Friday with the first pitch set for 7:00pm at the Rinker Athletic Campus.
