Women's Basketball Tripped Up By Tars

The Bucs were beat 64-53 by Rollins

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers came up short on Saturday, Feb. 15, losing to the Rollins Tars 64-53 in Winter Park, Fla.

SUMMARY:

  • 1Q - Rollins got out to a fast start on their home court, amassing an 8-2 lead early on. Chiara Fusari was able claw the Bucs back into striking distance with 5 straight points to end the period. | Rollins 20, Barry 11
  • 2Q - A Carly Sanders and-one got the Bucs within five points of the Tars with just under seven minutes left to play. After trading baskets over the next five minutes, Sanders once again scored a big basket underneath to pull the Bucs within one possession late before Rollins was able to rip off a 7-0 run to end the half. | Rollins 34, Barry 25
  • 3Q - Nine points from Harriet Swindells gave the Bucs life in the second half but Rollins' hot shooting wouldn't wear off with the Tars shooting 50 percent from the field in the frame. | Rollins 53, Barry 42

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Swindells (16 points), Fusari (13), and Emma Hergot (10) all logged double figures in the contest. 
  • Ashleigh Pink once again showed her importance on the defensive end, recording four steals in the contest.
  • Barry struggled to defend inside, only logging one block against the Tars. It's the Bucs' 14th game this season with 1 or less blocks in a game.

The Bucs will host Florida National on Wednesday, Feb. 19.
