Women's Basketball Loses In Lakeland

Bucs fall to Lady Mocs

LAKELAND, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers fell 65-39 to the Florida Southern Lady Moccasins on Saturday in Sunshine State Conference women's basketball action from Jenkins Fieldhouse.

SUMMARY:

  • 1Q - The first quarter was a nip and tuck affair, with five ties and three lead changes. Barry led 16-14 after a Harriet Swindells jumper with 1:16 remaining. But Marta Aranda drilled a three-pointer with 0:24 seconds on the clock and the Mocs took a lead into the first break. | FSC 17, Barry 16
  • 2Q - Barry's shooting woes manifested in the second frame, as the Bucs were 0-for-11 from the field. Nerea Baena connected on a free throw with 1:11 left in the half to break a 20-0 Moccasin run. | FSC 36, Barry 17

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Emma Hergot led the Bucs with a game-high 13 points.
  • Florida Southern's Steele led the Mocs with 13 points, tying Hergot for game honors. Pazzaglia-Khomenko was the only other Moc to hit double-digit figures as she finished with 11 points.
  • The Bucs failed to connect on a three-point field goal for the first time since Jan. 14, 2012 in a 63-60 overtime loss to the Mocs in Lakeand.
