MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Buccaneers women's basketball team battled to the last minute against the Nova Southeastern Sharks but came up just short, falling 70-66 on Wednesday, in Sunshine State Conference action on Cesar Odio Court.

- 1Q - Barry bolted in front early as Harriet Swindells keyed a 9-0 run to put the BUcs up 11-4. But with the Bucs leading 18-11, the Sharks hit back-to-back three-pointers to trim the lead to one at the break. | Barry 18, NSU 17

- 3Q - The Bucs battled back to take the lead in the third quarter, 41-39, on back-to-back baskets from Nerea Baena with 5:21 to go. After NSU regained the lead with a 5-0 run, with all five points coming from the line, Barry went on a 9-3 surge to go up 52-49. - 4Q - The fourth quarter went back and forth with four ties and five lead changes. After NSU went up 64-61, Barry scored five straight points on a trey by Chiara Fusari and a jumper from Swindells to regain the lead 66-64 with 1:14 remaining. But Barry missed their last two shots and the Sharks made their last two to surge to a late win. | NSU 70, Barry 66
NOTEWORTHY:
- Swindells scored a game-high 27, missing her career high by just two points (29 vs. Findlay on Dec. 21).
- Baena added 15 points for the Bucs.
- Jordan Tully led the Sharks with 21 points. Conley added 18 and a team-high six rebounds.
- Despite Barry out-shooting the Sharks 49.1 to 45.3 percent, the Sharks out-scored the Bucs by three from three-points range and by five from the line, as they took almost twice as many shots from the stripe.

Barry travels to Florida Southern on Saturday to face the Lady Mocs in Jenkins Fieldhouse.
