MIAMI SHORES, FL. – The Buccaneers launched their 2019 season with 19 unanswered points in the first match of the BarryU Classic against Saint Anselm in the Health & Sports Center. Barry would win the match in straight sets 25-4, 25-19 and 25-17. In the second match of the day, the Bucs took down American International in three sets as well - 25-15, 25-20 and 25-15.

SUMMARY:
Game one
- 1st set | Bianca Paşca put serious pressure on the Hawks right away with five service aces. The Bucs lead 19-0 before STA was able to record their first point of the set.
- 2nd set | The Bucs' offensive attack was led by a three-headed monster of Anastasiia Samokhvalova, Kishara Gordon and Megi Buvinic with three kills each.
- 3rd set | Gabriela Jansen was involved more offensively late for Barry with four kills on 11 attempts.
Game two
- 1st set | Buvinic collected 18 of her 40 attacks in this set while Jansen earned seven-of-12 digs.
- 2nd set | The Yellow Jackets would bounce back and force eight ties and five lead changes.
- 3rd set | The Bucs raised their defensive intensity and held AIC to a negative attack percentage (-.031) for the first and only time in the set. Audren Rose tallied seven-of-19 digs.
