DENVER, Colo. – The Buccaneers took a trip to the mile-high city to face some of the NCAA DII elites at the Colorado Premier Challenge. After day one of the tournament, the Bucs proved they belong, but came up short, slugging it out with the number five-ranked and number 12-ranked teams in the country. In the first match, Barry fell 3-1 to Lewis 25-23, 17-25, 21-25, 17-25 and in the second match, Central Missouri got the best of the Bucs in five sets 25-22, 12-25, 17-25, 25-21, 8-15. The Buccaneers will play the host MSU Denver tomorrow at 1:30pm EST.

First Match
- 1st set | The Bucs came out firing against the Flyers with a .326 attack percentage. Barry was led by Megi Buvinic who punched out seven kills.
- 2nd set | An adjustment to the Bucs' offense paid dividends for Lewis in the remainder of the match. Barry hit .121 in 33 attempts.
- 3rd set | Barry continued to struggle offensively, but did a better job defensively holding Lewis to a .173 attack percentage.
- 4th set | Despite five kills and four digs from Buvinic, the offensive attack from the Flyers was too efficient for the Buccaneers to put together a string of points or any momentum.
Second Match
- 1st set | Both teams came out with their offenses looking sharp. Buvinic led the Bucs with seven kills and five digs.
- 2nd set | Barry had their first negative attack percentage in a set this season.
- 3rd set | The Jennies were able to cause trouble for the Bucs with their serves recording four service aces in the set.
- 4th set | Down 2-1, the Bucs showed there is no quit in this team. Runs were hard to come by with both teams holding sideout percentages over 51 percent.
- 5th set | In the final set, UCM was able to go on a run and never looked back. The Jennies finished the set with a sideout percentage of 87.
NOTEWORTHY:.
- Pasca and Buvinic each had double-doubles in the match against Lewis. Buvinic then finished with her second of the day against UCM.
- Rose is 197 digs away from becoming the 8th Buccaneer player to record 1,000 digs in their career
- Pasca recorded a season-high 43 assists against UCM while averaging 9.11 assists per set in the two matches.
