Baseball Loses Opener To Sailfish

Gonzalez goes seven innings with one run

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers lost 4-3 to the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish in the opening game of their Sunshine State Conference baseball series at Feinbloom Field on Friday night.

  • B2 - Deyvid Silva scored on a pair of PBA errors after leading off the inning with a double. | Barry 1, PBA 0
  • T4 - Brandon Seltzer doubled to lef with one out and scored on a single by Brandon Smith. | Barry 1, PBA 1
  • B4 - Silva doubled again and scored on another double by Reuben Pino. | Barry 2, PBA 1
  • B5 - JC Garcia had a one-out single and scored when Justin Lamazares hustled down the line to beat a double play. | Barry 3, PBA 1
  • T8 - Seltzer launched a mammoth homer to left to cut the lead to one. Connor Rowland, who reached on an error, scored the tying run on a single by Riley Herold. | Barry 3, PBA 3
  • T9 - Derek Schwimer singled up the middle and went ot third on a single by Sean Houck. Schwimer scored the winning run on a fly ball by Danny Tufraiello. | PBA 4, Barry 3

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Frank II Gonzalez had another outstanding outing with out getting a decision. He worked seven innings, scattering seven hits, allowing one run and striking out three. 
  • Pablo Arevalo (4-4) took the loss for the Bucs. In 1.1 innings, he allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits.
  • Heath Hawkings (4-2) got the win for PBA. He held the Bucs to one walk in 1.2 innigns and struck out two.
  • Orsen Josephina worked a perfect ninth, striking out two, for his fifth save.
