Baseball Takes Down Panthers

Gayman, with 6 shutout innings, leads the Bucs to the win

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers took down previously unbeaten Adelphi 7-1 in non-conference action from Feinbloom Field Friday night.

SUMMARY:

  • B1 - Justin Lamazares walked and Andrew Rapoza bounced a single up the middle. After a wild pitch by Panther starter Nicolas Puc, Chris Cabrera delivered a two-run double. | Barry 2, Adelphi 0
  • B3 - Lamazares led off with a single through the left side and Rapoza was hit by a pitch from Luc. Cabrera singled to left to knock in Lamazares and chase Luc. Rueben Pino dropped a bunt down the third base line and new pitcher hesitated before throwing to first, allowing all runners to be safe. Deyvid Silva scored Rapoza with a sacrifice fly and Richie Solbalvarro walked to reload the bases. Ariel Diaz and Arrison Perez both drew walks to force in runs and JC Garcia plated the final run with another sac fly. | Barry 7, Adelphi 0
  •  T7 - The Panthers got their lone run in the seventh. Lawrence Cicileo singled up the middle and later scored on a fly ball from Lucas Terwilliger. | Barry 7, Adelphi 1

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Myles Gayman (2-1) tossed six shutout innings on three hits. He struck out four and did not walk a batter.
  • Relievers Cade Middleton, Nick Vanderhoef and Victor Cabrera retired nine of the last 10 batters for the Panthers.
  • Luc (0-1) took the loss. In 2+ innings, he allowed five runs on five hits and three walks and struck out two.
  • Chris Cabrera led the Bucs at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a double, run scored and two RBI.
  • Lamazares and Silva also had two hits, while Rapoza scored twice.

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs continue their home stand against Molloy on Saturday, Mar. 9 at 6:00 pm.
