Baseball Salvages Split With Tritons

Bucs drop 2-of-3 in St. Petersburg

ST.PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The 29th-ranked Barry Buccaneers salvaged a split in the Saturday doubleheader with the Eckerd Tritons in their Sunshine State Conference series at the Turley Athletic Complex. The Tritons won game one 15-13, but the Bucs came back to take the finale 8-6.

GAME ONE:

  • T1 - Barry put up four runs in the top of the first. JC Garcia, who walked to lead off, scored on an error. Chris Cabrera capped the frame with a three-run homer. | Barry 4, Eckerd 0

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Kyle Durham (2-1), the fourth of five Triton pitcher, earned the win with 1.1 innings of work in game one, despite allowing three runs.
  • Pablo Arevalo (4-3) allowed seven runs (three earned) on eight hits and a walk in 4.2 innings of relief. 
  • Achuff worked the final 1.2 innings, allowing one run on three hits, to earn his third save.
  • In game two, Erislandy Rives (3-0) worked five innings, matching his longest outing, to earn the win. He allowed four runs on five hits and a walk, striking out three.
  • Hugo Casilla allowed a lead off hit in the ninth, but got Hiott to ground into a double play to eand the game and earn his eighth save.
  • Cameron Lanzilli (2-2) took the loss in the finale. He allowed six runs (four earned) on nine hits and a walk in six innings.
  • Rapoza had five hits, including a pair of homers, and drove in seven to lead the Bucs. 
  • Glover matched Rapoza's two homers and drove in five.

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs are off until next weekend when they host the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish.
