ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The 29th-ranked Barry Buccaneers fell 8-7 to the Eckerd Tritons in the opening game of a Sunshine State Conference baseball series at the Turley Athletic Complex Friday night.

  • B2 - The Tritons struck first on a two-run homer by Mitch Donofrio. | Eckerd 2, Barry 0 
  • T3 - Andrew Rapoza and Richie Sobalvarro led off the inning with singles. After an unsuccessful bunt attempt, JC Garcia knocked in Rapoza to cut the lead in half. After a walk to load the bases, Justin Lamzares singled to give the Bucs a lead. | Barry 3, Eckerd 2
  • T4 - Rapoza tacked on a solo homer to the lead in the fourth. | Barry 4, Eckerd 2
  • B5 - The Tritons rallied with two outs in tie the game. Mitch Calandra, who went 4-for-5, singled, and Sam Cochrane and Chase Achuff followed with back-to-back doubles. | Barry 4, Eckerd 4

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Anthony Boix (0-1) took the loss for the Bucs. After pitching a scoreless eighth, all four batters reached in the ninth, including two on errors, leading to an unearned run.
  • Jarid Salisbury (1-0) got the win with 1.2 innings of one-hit relief.
