WHAT THEY'RE SAYING

"We had a great conference win vs. St Leo on Senior Day for our final regular season game. The victory is especially satisfying for our 5 seniors to win the last home game of their college careers. It was a fairly close game through three quarters then we played well on both ends of the court in the fourth quarter which allowed us to pull away for a 20-point victory.

Today was a memorable game for senior Ida Andersson. Going into the game, Ida had 75 made 3-pointers which tied her with Jackie Perez (2014-15) for the most three's in a single season. It was good to see Ida knock down two 3-pointers in today's game which made her the all-time leader in that category.

Our focus now shifts to the first round of the SSC conference tournament as we prepare to play the number 1 seed, Florida Southern, on their home court in Lakeland, FL on March 6th." -- Head coach Bill Sullivan

SUMMARY:

  • 1Q - Saint Leo kicked off the game on fire; Back-to-back triples from the Lion's Aliana Gallagher and Asia Royster gave Saint Leo an 11-5 lead early. Barry was able to climb back in it and take the lead with an Emma Hergot layup. | Barry 14, Saint Leo 13
  • 2Q - Nichel Tampa slashed the Lions up in the second quarter, logging seven points in the frame. | Barry 26, Saint Leo 25
  • 3Q - The Bucs came out of the locker room with energy, ripping off a 8-0 run to push their lead to nine points early in the half. | Barry 40, Saint Leo 32

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Barry's defense was lock down all afternoon, holding the Lions to a mere 27% from the field and also forcing the green & gold into 20 turnovers.
  • Ida Andersson, Sanders, and Tampa all checked out in double-figures in the scoring column.
ON THE HORIZON:

Next up for the Bucs is the first round of the Sunshine State Conference Tournament where they will face off against the Florida Southern Moccasins on Wednesday, March 6., in Lakeland, Fla.
