MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers clubbed out a pair of homers to beat the Lynn Fighting Knights 4-1 in the opener of their Sunshine State Conference baseball series at Feinbloom Field on Friday night.

- B5 - The tacked on an unearned run in the fifth. JC Garcia and Freddie Matos had back-to-back hits with one out. After a fielder's choice erased Garcia, Justin Lamazares beat out an infield single and Matos scored when Lynn shortstop Anthony Sanabria threw the ball away at first. | Barry 3, Lynn 1
- B8 - Lamazares added an insurance run in the eighth with a solo homer over the scoreboard in left. | Barry 4, Lynn 1
NOTEWORTHY:
- Frank II Gonzalez (4-0) worked seven strong innings to pick up his fourth win. He allowed just five hits, including the homer by Fontana for the only run, and struck out 10 without walkign a batter.
- Pablo Arevalo worked the final two innings to pick up his first save. He allowed only one hit and pitched around three errors by his defense to hold the Knights scoreless. He did not walk a batter and struck out three.
- Nicholis Prather (2-4) was tagged with the loss. In six innings, he allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits and a walk. He struck out seven.
- Garcia, Matos and Lamazares all had two hits for the Bucs. Pino, with the two-run homer, led in RBI.
- Joe Argumedo led the Knights with two hits, while Fontana scored and drove in their only run.
ON THE HORIZON:
The series continues tomorrow. Threat of bad weather on Sunday and pushed that game up, making Saturday a doubleheader. First pitch is now scheduled for 1:00 pm with the final game to follow.
