Men's Hoops Wins Six-Straight with 129-61 Victory Over Toccoa Falls

The 129 points is a new program record

MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Buccaneers went undefeated at the Florida Tech Winter Classic after a 129-61 victory over Toccoa Falls inside the Clemente Center on Saturday. The victory came after the Bucs took down Thomas University 83-55 on Friday. 

The 129 points scored are the most since Barry scored 128 against Nova Southeastern on November 27th, 1992.

SUMMARY:

  • The Buccaneers front court dominated the pace of the game, with Tylan Birts and Johannes Dolven each going into the half with 12 points a piece. Barry outscored the Screaming Eagles in the paint 46-18. 
  • Barry forced 18 turnovers in the first half that led to 27 points, while taking care of the basketball themselves with just two turnovers. 
  • Up by as many as 75 in the second half, the Buccaneers had 14 different players score and out-rebounded the Screaming Eagles 22-11. 

NOTEWORTHY:.

  • Barry had seven players reach double-figures and 14-of-the-15 players that played scored. 
  • Marcelo Perez was perfect from the field, going 7-for-7 with 18 points and four steals. 
  • Oddly enough, the Buccaneers' leading rebounder, Birts, finished the game without a rebound. The Florida City native finished with 18 points on 9-for-10 shooting. 
  • Chris Mejia had a season-high with 11 points on 3-for-6 shooting to go along with five rebounds and three assists. 

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs are off for the rest of 2019 and will resume play in 2020 on January 2nd at home against SSC foe, Embry-Riddle. Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM inside the Health & Sports Center.
