Men's Hoops Crushes Night Hawks

The Bucs took down Thomas 83-55

Melbourne, Fla. – The Buccaneers notched their fifth win in a row after completely dismantling the Thomas University Night Hawks 83-55 on Friday, Dec. 20 at the Florida Tech Winter Classic. 

INSIDE THE MATCHUPS:

Final: Barry 83, Thomas 55
Records: Barry (8-2, 3-1 SSC), Thomas (5-9, 2-3 SUN)

SUMMARY:

  • The first half was quite the back-and-forth affair with Thomas amassing a six-point lead early on before the Bucs charged back to take a 27-20 lead with just under seven minutes left in the first period.
  • Thomas's Joshua Scott came out on fire from deep, connecting on three of his five attempts from downtown to lead the Night Hawks with 16 pts in the first frame.
  • Johannes Dolven set the tone for the Bucs early, getting it done down low on his way to a double-double in the first half (13 PTS, 10 REB). 
  • The second half was a much different contest with Barry coming out of the locker room with an eye on stretching the floor. The Bucs sank seven three pointers from six different shooters on their way to recording 50 points in the period.
  • Defense played a big part at the end of the game as the Bucs held the Night Hawks to just seven points in the first 16 minutes of the second half.

NOTEWORTHY:.

  • Dolven posted his second double-double of the season on Friday, a triumph for the senior after he came just one rebound shy of the accomplishment in each of his three previous outings.
  • Evan Walshe notched his fourth double-digit outing in a row, sinking three buckets from deep on his way to 13 points.
  • Defensively the Bucs played as a unit, with seven different players recording a steal in the contest.

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs will play their final out of conference opponent tomorrow on Saturday, Dec. 21 when they take on Toccoa Falls at the Florida Tech Winter Classic.
