CLEVELAND, Miss. -- The Barry Buccaneers had to work overtime, but scored a big double-overtime win, 90-82, over the defending Gulf South Conference champs Union in the SSC/GSC Challenge at Sillers Coliseum on Saturday night.

- 4Q - The Bucs turned it around in the fourth quarter. They clamped down defensively on the Bulldogs, forcing seven turnover in the period, to only one by the Bucs. Tampa stepped up again, scoring eight points in the period, while Harriet Swindells hit a pair of three-pointers in the last two minutes, including a buzzer-beater that sent the game to overtime, as Barry overcame an eight-point deficit. | Barry 69, Union 69
- 1OT - Both teams managed 10 points in the first overtime and shot at least 50 percent from the floor. After the Bulldogs took a two-point lead with 1:18 remaining, Tampa tied the game on the next possession for Barry. - 2OT - The Bucs defense proved to be too much in the end for the Bulldogs, as Barry held Union to just 1-of-6 shooting in the final frame. Tampa scored four and Ashleigh Pink hit a big three-pointer as Barry pulled out the win. | Barry 90, Union 82
NOTEWORTHY:
- Tampa led all players with a career-high 34 points. She added 13 rebounds for her first double-double of the season, and narrowly missed a triple-double with seven assists. Tampa's 34 points are the most for a Buccaneer since Angie Williams scored 40 against FAU in 1998.
- Swindells added 18 points for Barry and Nerea Baena chipped in 13.
- Emma Hergot had 10 rebounds and eight points, while Pink added nine points and eight rebounds.
- Jaelencia Williams led Union with 31 points and 16 rebounds.
- Jada Smith, who was the only player to play all 50 minutes, chipped in 18 points and Jacie Higgins added 16.
ON THE HORIZON:
The Bucs are off until Nov. 23, when they open Sunshine State Conference play hosting the defending league champs Florida Southern at Cesar Odio Court.
