CLEVELAND, Miss. -- Barry lost their women's basketball opener to the Delta State Lady Statesmen 66-58 at Sillers Coliseum on Friday in the Sunshine State Conference/Gulf South Conference Challenge.

• 1Q - The Bucs started out hot. Led by 10 points from junior Harriet Swindells, the Bucs hit 10-of-18 from the floor, 4-of-8 from three-point range, as they took a 10-point lead at the end of the first period. | Barry 25, Delta State 15
• 2Q - But Swindells picked up her second foul early in the second period, forcing her to the bench, and the Bucs shooting touch went cold as they connected on just three field goals in the period. The Lady Statesmen closed the period on a 17-2 run to lead at the break. | Delta State 34, Barry 31.

NOTEWORTHY:

• Swindells led all players with 21 points, tying her career high set at Lynn as a freshman.
• Chiara Fusari had a career-high 12 points as wel for the Bucs.
• Nia Johnson led DSU with 20 points, while Zyaire Ewing added 17 points.
• The Bucs out-rebounded the Statemen 41-36, but DSU forced eight more turnovers, 23-15.
