MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Buccaneers dropped a well-played game against Lake Erie College 84-79 at home for their first loss of the season. The Storm have now picked up back-to-back wins over Sunshine State Conference opponents after Erie beat Rollins 85-82 on Friday, November 17th.
SUMMARY:
- The Bucs walked into halftime up 38-37 after a back and forth first half that saw 14 lead changes and eight ties. Leandro Allende paced the Bucs with an efficient 10 points on 3-for-4 shooting from the field while converting 4-of-6 attempts from the stripe. Both sides struggled from distance in the first period with Barry only shooting 25 percent from behind-the-arc, though the Storm were only slightly better at 31 percent.
- A 10-2 run for the Storm beginning on a three-pointer from Harrison Riggs at the 16:56 mark gave the visitors a lead which they would hold for the remainder of the game. Lake Erie won the battle inside in the second period outscoring the Buccaneers bench 36-15 for the game.
NOTEWORTHY:
- Jake Kakar scored 17 points in the second half, finishing with 21 for the game to record his second 20+ point game of the season.
- Tylan Birts picked up his second double-double in three games so far this season.
- Erie out-rebounded the Bucs 47-34
