MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Buccaneers scored 43 field goals on 34 assists on Thursday afternoon during a 100-57 win over Staten Island inside the Health & Sports Center. Justinas Marcinkevicius recorded a career-high 18 points and 13 rebounds in just 21 minutes of work. Tylan Birts fell two rebounds short of his second consecutive double-double. The senior from Florida City finished with 16 points and eight rebounds.
SUMMARY:
- Four players went into the half with eight points for the red and black as Barry shot just under 60 percent as a team. With the Bucs leading by just one at the 14:46 mark in the first half, Barry went on a 40-8 run to lead by 33 at the half.
- Marcinkevicius led the Bucs in the second half with 14 points and eight rebounds showing much improvement from last year as a freshman. The Bucs dominated in all facets of the game, but went 6-for-15 (40 percent) from the free throw line.
NOTEWORTHY:
- Despite struggling from the field after a 25 point game against Clark-Atlanta, Jake Kakar found other ways to contribute for the Bucs with seven rebounds, six assists and two blocks.
- Johannes Dolven played well for the second-straight game and is averaging 10 points and 6.5 rebounds-per-game.
- The 34 team assists ties the record for second-most in program history.
