DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers fell 70-61 to the Embry-Riddle Eagles at the ICI Center on Wednesday night in Sunshine State Conference women's basketball action.

- 1Q - The Eagles started off hot and built a seven-point lead, 12-5, on a three-pointer by Sarah Jones with 5:38 left. But trailing 16-9 with just under four minutes to play, the Bucs rolled off a 6-1 run to cut the lead to 17-15 with 2:47 left as Emma Hergot hit a jumper. Neither team could score over the last 2:47. - 2Q - After Laura Ellenberger hit a shot to make it 19-15, the Bucs scored the next seven points to pull ahead 22-19. Ashleigh Pink capped the run with a three-point play at the 8:00 minute mark. Juhnae Richardson connected for a three-point play of her own at 5:37, giving the Bucs a 26-25 lead. But two possessions later Jones hit jumper and the Eagles never again surrendered the lead. - 4Q - The teams basically traded baskets in the fourth quarter. Barry closed to within five points on a layup by Nichel Tampa with 0:41 seconds left, but the Eagles were 4-for-4 from the line in the last 0:27 seconds to push the lead back to nine. | Embry-Riddle 70, Barry 61
NOTEWORTHY:
- Swindells led the Bucs in scoring off the bench for the third straight game with 13 points. Andersson and Tampa each added 12.
- Ellenberger, the 5-4 point guard, led the Eagles with 23 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists. Jones added 16 points and Nicole Tucker had 12.
ON THE HORIZON:
The Bucs travel back to central Florida on Saturday to face the Rollins Tars at 2:00 pm in the Warden Arena.
