MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry women's basketball team fended off the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish 79-74 on Cesar Odio Court on Wednesday night in Sunshine State Conference action.

- 1Q - The first period was tight, with five ties and four lead changes. But Barry took a four-point lead on a jumper by Juhnae Richardson with 0:50 seconds left. Jonika Garvin pulled the Sailfish to within a point, 18-17 with a three-pointer at the buzzer. | Barry 18, PBA 17
- 2Q - The second quarter started out the same way, with two ties and two lead changes in the first five minutes. But, leading 27-26 with 5:05 on the clock, the Bucs score 11 of the next 17 points to go up 38-32 on a three-pointer by Melanie Jordan with 1:51 to play. The Bucs extended the lead to seven on a pair of Harriet Swindells free throws before Garvin knocked down a last second shot again to make the margin five at the break. | Barry 42, PBA 37
- 3Q - The Bucs came out of the locker room on fire, hitting their first four shots from the field, including three triples by Ida Andersson to push the lead to 12, 53-41. A jumper in the paint by Lauren Seyranian gave Barry a 61-46 lead with 2:12 to play before the Sailfish scored the last two points of the period. | Barry 61, PBA 48
- 4Q - The Bucs maintained their double figure advantage for the first five minutes of the period, leading 69-58 at 4:59 on a pair of Andersson free throws. But the Sailfish chipped away at the lead, pulling to within a basket, 73-71, on a fast-break bucket by Garvin with 1:17 left. Andersson responded for the Bucs with a huge three-pointer with 0:33 second left and Barry hit three of four from the line to ice the game. Barry 79, PBA 74
NOTEWORTHY:
- Andersson scored a career-high 30 points, hitting 8-of-11 from three-point range to lead the Buccaneers.
- Nichel Tampa added 14 points and three steals. Swindells added 11 points and three assists.
- Garvin led the 'Fish with 23 points and had 11 rebounds. Ciara Cumbie added 11 points and a team-high 13 rebounds.
- The win snapped a three-game skid for the Bucs and kept the Sailfish winless in the first half of conference play.
