Men's Soccer Brings Home Second Overtime Win Of The Season

The Bucs seized an opportunity off a turnover to score the game-winning goal in overtime

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. -- Fran Greco has done it again. After scoring the game-winning goal in Barry's first weekend of action against Mississippi College, Greco netted another game-winning overtime goal versus St. Thomas University on Wednesday night at Bobcat Field as the Bucs came away with a 2-1 victory.

SUMMARY:

  • 5th minute - Things got off to an unfortunate start for the Bucs when Alejo Binaghi netted the first goal of the game for the Bobcats.
  • 79th minute - Barry had been knocking on the door all game, outshooting St. Thomas by a 13-4 margin and finally late in the second half, Ander Urkidi  was fouled in the box and converted the penalty kick to knot the game 1-1.
  • 95th minute - After coming on as a substitute, Greco summoned his late-game magic once again. Getting a long pass out of the back from Stephen Kosmala, the Buenos Aires native setup a one on one with the goalkeeper before knocking in his third goal on the year.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Barry was active in the box all game, earning nine corners and taking 13 shots.
  • The pair of Bobcat goalies, Mike Marx and Robert Barton, recorded five saves against Barry.
  • Barry's Alexander Kortus earned the win in his first collegiate start, making one save on four Bobcat shots.

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs will look to come home and #SiegeTheShores vs. Eckerd on Saturday, Sept. 15th.
