Barry takes the field after ending the preseason on a sour note. In their last contest, the Bucs fell 3-1 to Broward College. In that match, Luca de Biase netted a goal in the 17th minute. The highlight of the Bucs' preseason was their 4-0 victory over ASA Miami, a match that saw de Biase, James Kirkham, Flavio Colasanti, and Stephen Kosmala all net goals of their own.

Last season, Barry came in just under .500 with a 5-6-2 record, but look to improve on the offensive end after only scoring 14 goals on the season. In an effort revamp the roster, Coach Steve McCrath brought in new assistant coach Ali Simmons who in turn helped McCrath recruit 10 new players to the team.

Opening up the season is the Bucs' match vs. the Delta State Statesmen. The Statesmen posted a 4-13-1 record last season and only won one conference game, a 2-1 victory at home over Ouachita Baptist. Delta State was named the 10th best team in the conference in the 13-team Gulf South Conference Poll. On a positive note, incoming freshman Carlos Bestard and Lorenz Kopp were named to the 2018 All-Newcomer team.

The first day of September will see the Bucs take the field vs. the Mississippi College Choctaws. Last season, was one of success in Mississippi as the Choctaws recorded a 13-3-3 and advanced all the way to the semifinals of their conference tournament. In addition, the Choctaws were recongnized as third best team in the conference and received two first place votes in the same preseason GSC poll.
