Baseball Drops Rubber Game To Panthers

Bucs fall to 21-26

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers dropped the rubber game of their Sunshine State Conference baseball series to the Florida Tech Panthers 13-10 on Monday at Feinbloom Field.

SUMMARY:

  • B1: Barry jumped out to a quick lead again in game three. Alexis Monge-Rodriguez was hit by a pitch and Ryan Baldwin had an RBI double. Richie Sobalvarro followed with a single to drive in Baldwin. | Barry 2, FIT 0
  • B3: Jonathan Quintana singled and stole second and third. He scored when the throw from catcher Ryan Sinzenich skipped away from the third baseman. Ryan Baldwin walked and also stole second. He scored on a single by Sobalvarro. Paul Salata sent a ball into the hole at second and James Newton slid to try and make a play, but kicked the ball down the right field line, allowing Salata to make it all the way to third. | Barry 5, FIT 0
  • T5: Newton and Rodnie Bernard scored ahead of a double by Vincenzo Catanza. Raul Quintero knocked in Cantanza with a single to cut the lead. | Barry 5, FIT 3 
  • T7: In the seventh, Quintero had a two-run double to tie the game and Jacob Buser drove him in with a single to give FIT the lead. | FIT 6, Barry 5

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Justin Barney (2-1) got the win for the Panthers, despite giving up five runs in 2.1 innings on six hits. 
  • Armando Gonzalez (1-3) faced two batters and allowed a run, but did not record an out.
  • Baldwin, with three homers in the last four games, has tied Irain Gonzalez for the career home run record. Gonzalez hit 33 dingers from 1998-2001. Baldwin sits at 33 with three games to play.
  • Sobalvbarro went 4-for-5. Baldwin had two hits and drove in four for the second straight game. Salata had a triple and a homer.

ON THE HORIZON:

Buccaneer Baseball hosts Nova Southeastern in the final home series of the 2018 regular season at Feinbloom Field May 10-12. The Bucs will honor the senior class before the game on Saturday.
